kampung-story

quote Ordered special fried rice. Not special at all. 2 pieces of half peeled shrimp with few pieces of chicken in overcooked rice. Not feeling like coming back anymore.

quote Food quality is okay. I think the flake batter need to be improve as it is not crispy (you can see from the picture) Overall food is fine, unless the flake fish need to be more crispy. The seafood is so fresh especially the scallop, taste so good and juicy! Only 2pack of Tartar sauce, it will not be enough for your set meal. I would suggest to get $1 sauce from the counter. Pretty enough for 2pax. Limited dining table is available for dine in. But they only provide fork. Most people take away their orders. Price is reasonable as in suburb area. We ordered 1 seafood set is more than enough to fill up 2 stomach 😅 (only small eater) Good for sharing!

quote So happy they opened a branch in the West that's so close to my place. Menu seems bigger than the other branches too. Google map position isn't accurate though. It's actually behind the subway and you have to enter the carpark from a different entrance. Kolo mee was respectable. Generous with pork lard and noodles were chewy and bouncy enough although slightly less than the Glen Waverley branch. Even had green picked chilli which is rare in Melbourne. Sambal was ok. Slightly oily but had enough flavour although a little on sweet side for me. Will update when I've tried more dishes. Lo Bak is minced rather than fillet though. Update 241124 Tried the basic nasi lemak for $6.90 and Curry chee cheong fun. Rice was fragrant enough and not wet. Could be saltier. Sambal was right taste with onions but needed more of it since there was quite a bit of rice. Added the sambal they provided at the counter and made it spicier but it changed the taste profile. Ikan bilis and kacang were crunchy. Almost as good as MKS Epping in texture but not quite there in flavour and spice. Never been a fan of boiled eggs with nasi lemak as well. Chee cheong fun was surprisingly good. Delicate slippery and curry was spicy. Only had fish balls and some kind of fish based taopok though so the other $10 dishes have better value. Still it's a very good specimen if you like the dish Update 291124 Penang white curry mee was average. Hokkien noodles were starchy and soft in texture. Ingredients were sparse compared to menu photos. Sauce was ok with curry mee flavours. Pork noodles dry had lots of meat. Soup was very tasty and a bit sweet so had lots of msg. Kuay tiow noodles were a little bit too soggy for my liking. Update 071224 Curry chee cheong fun was not as silky as last time. Larger pieces was a bit hard in the middle. But fish balls were crispier this time. Chicken rice was respectable but not amazing. Rice was very fragrant and tasty. Lots of chicken with lots of garlic oil but some pieces were drier and tougher. With the chilli sauce was a bit better. Saturday 1pm there were lots of people and takeaway orders. Kitchen was a bit hectic and struggling with a slightly slower service. Sounded like there may be new staff.

quote Absolute amazing place to come for a hot and delicious freshly cooked meal. Located in a lifting shopping strip with plenty of parking. The owner was super friendly and such a helpful guide when exploring the menu. As first time customers he recommended meals to us and explained them well. The food was made fresh and was delicious. It did not take long to arrive at our table. The owner was friendly and professional the whole time explaining how to go about eating and adding to the soup to better suite our taste. The whole experience was amazing and leaves you wanting to come back for more. Will defiantly be coming back and I would highly recommend it when you have time to stop by!
