quote Read about the KL Hokkien Noodle rave review here and thought I give it a try. Perhaps my expectations were too high. It was a little sugary sweet for my liking. The lack of wok hei dampens my anticipation. Salt fish fried rice is pretty good, CKT is average fare and I did not try the BCM because it didn’t look too appetising. Service was quick which is a plus. I reckon the Asian churches nearby brings in the lunch crowd. Overall, it is crowded for a Sunday. Patrons must be enjoying their fares. For me, it’s just ok and I should not have been swayed by the ratings.

quote Came here for dinner tonight and the food was amazing, everything was freshly made. More importantly, the grandma was the best! Super cute and helpful. We asked her if the soups were good and she told us ‘not really, our noodles and lamb ribs better’ we loved her honest recommendation. We also had the lamb pies - we forgot to take a photo because it smelt so good and we ate it too quickly - a must try!

number-1-dumpling-and-noodle-takeaway

quote I’ve been coming here for years. By any definition, what they sell is good old-fashioned comfort food. It’s one of those places you wish will never change. You find comfort in the familiar. The food is always good. The people are always friendly. I’m yet to have a bad meal here ever. I always order the mapo tofu, which is definitely the best in all of Melbourne, maybe all of Australia.

pho-huong-viet-carnegie

quote Average pho. Ordered number 2, chicken and beef- soup fine taste. Beef was a bit chewy, and chicken was fine. Average. Ordered beef and tendon. Soup fine. Beef again chewy. Tendons were 50% soft and nice and 50% tough and not cooked. The spring rolls, two for $7 were also dense to eat. Like eating a boiled sweet, they were crispy but maybe how they fried it was hard to eat. Average. Better options in Clayton and Springvale.
