Our Customer Reviews

la-chanh

quote We love this restaurant so much, sometimes we go multiple times in one week. The food is incredible, always fresh and delicious. Don't listen to the other reviews mentioning portion size, the portions are more than generous and represent great value for money. The owners and staff are so friendly and accommodating, they can always fit our large family in at short notice. Get the housemade prawn crackers, crispy chicken with noodles (ask for the soup on the side), and all the vermicelli dishes are delicious too. Cannot recommend highly enough. The best Vietnamese on Victoria St.

long-dragon-dumpling-house

quote Came down here on a Saturday evening for dinner and they were already half packed. The first thing you notice is the place is very rudimentary, floor tiles is slightly greasy sticky and I knew it straight away the food was going to be good and authentic. The service is efficient and on point, got the menu and water as we sat down. Ordered the XLB, Xiao long bao, Chinese sausage fried rice, spring onion pancake and pan fried pork dumplings. The food came out very quickly and it was definitely cooked to order as the buzz from kitchen rang out for each order. Spring onion pancakes were had a crunchy crust, the centre was chewy and packed plenty of savoury flavour, just like how I had it in China. The fried rice was cooked in a wok with nice amount of oil to keep the rice seperate and packed plenty of wok hei (breath of the wok). XLB was small in size but well portioned for a mouth explosion with the hot soup inside as you one biter. This is the real experience of XLB. The fried pork dumpling is definitely made in store during the day over at one of the dining tables and cooked to order. The flavours were spot on and the bottom of the dumpling is crispy. All in all we finished our food and most impressive is their chilli oil on the table is house made, the umami flavours and the mix of heat is perfect, not too spicy and enhances every dish ever so slightly.

quote Such a great bargain, for just $10 a main dish. It is so close to the train station, I can just grab a takeaway after work.

pho-huong-viet-carnegie

quote Average pho. Ordered number 2, chicken and beef- soup fine taste. Beef was a bit chewy, and chicken was fine. Average. Ordered beef and tendon. Soup fine. Beef again chewy. Tendons were 50% soft and nice and 50% tough and not cooked. The spring rolls, two for $7 were also dense to eat. Like eating a boiled sweet, they were crispy but maybe how they fried it was hard to eat. Average. Better options in Clayton and Springvale.

saigon-river

quote Food was very average. Not your authentic Vietnamese food taste. We didn't expect much, but gave it a try anyways. Com tam was okay, pickled veggies were okay, shredded pork was very dry. The soup and sauce was not too good. The pho was not good either. The staff went to the back kitchen and spoke with their peers for a long time. We had to go into the kitchen to order. Can't say I recommend this spot.
