asaka-sushi

quote Walked to this sushi shop and ordered Asaka Bento Lunch Special ($18.50). The combo includes teriyaki chicken, 2 pieces of fried chicken, 1 piece of fried fish and one fried prawn. Love the salad with mayonnaise dressing and the crunchy yellow pickles. Worth the money. Delicious food with affordable price! Will come back again.

quote I haven't been here for a while so I decided to pop in for lunch with a work colleague since we were in the area. I noticed quite a few things have changed since the last time I was here for a meal, maybe 6 - 8 months ago. I guess costs have gone up and they've had to cut back wherever they can. They no longer have the Maggi chilli sauce bottles on the tables. If you want it, you'll need to get it from the counter. They claim to have new items added to the menu eg Sarawak Laksa, although I could've sworn it was already on the menu. I'll need to visit again to try their version of Sarawak Laksa. Pictures look legit and pretty tempting, so I guess I'll have try it soon. We ordered a Singapore Fried Mee hoon, Nasi Lemak with chicken curry and a serve of fried wontons. All washed down with a couple of Cokes. I added extra noodles and a fried egg on top of my fried mee hoon. Fried egg was $4 and so was the extra meehoon. A bit steep but I figured I'd give it a go. Wait time for food to come out was around 10 - 15 minutes, which I suppose is pretty good considering all tables were full in the shop i.e. very busy. Singapore Fried Mee Hoon portions seem to have gotten significantly smaller. I thought at first I had received the regular portion instead of the extra noodles. However, the server confirmed that what I received was with extra noodles. The fried egg was done nicely. Crispy chewy white and the egg yolk was just runny enough. Flavourwise, there was a bit of wok hei to the noodles, but it wasn't spectacular. Had to put lots of the Maggi Chilli Sauce to give it that flavour boost. The photo I took of the fried meehoon was after I put the sauce on. Feedback from my colleague about his Nasi Lemak was that it was OK although the sambal seemed to be a bit bland and portion sizes seem to have been reduced also. The fried wontons were just as good as I remembered them to be so that's a plus.

quote Sunday evening fish and chips from Broadway Fish Shop were very good. The King Snapper had a nice thin crunchy batter and the chips were crunchy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. One serve was enough for we 2 seniors. It was prepared in good time and I was greeted by a lovely smile and welcome from the staff. I'll definitely be going back. Thank you.

quote When I go to Wembley food court I usually head straight to Saigon Express for some pho but today I decided to to give these guys a go. There's a Bain Marie of suburban Chinese classics but also a menu of cooked to order dishes. I went for the pork and pickled bean, rice noodle soup and was pleasantly surprised. It was very tasty and I would definitely order it again.

quote We visited this hidden gem on the recommendation of a friend. One of the best seafood baskets we’ve had in ages. And despite just being the 2 of us, we also had a serve of whiting and potato scallops. Everything was fresh and crisp, well seasoned and not greasy! Not a local but will definitely drive back here again. Bonus that there are a few tables where we could sit and partake the food on the spot!
