Cheapest Malaysian in Melbourne that I have found and tried. Fast service, double-colour toned interior, woody restaurant feel, fatty creamy spicy aroma from the food - couldn’t get any more authentic than this!
$10 for classics such as Kolo Mee, Char Kway Teow, Nasi Lemak, Hainanese Chicken Rice done just like the way we had it in Malaysia. Having travelled to Penang, the quality is almost similar. Penang White Curry Mee brought me back to the one I had near Air Siam temple in Penang. Rice dishes are better than their noodles, as I found the CKT & Kolo Mee lacking flavour. Love the chicken of both the curry chicken in the NasiLemak & Hainanese Chicken Rice. Sauce is super delicious, but the fragrant rice for both dishes were surprisingly better.
Definitely could do more meat for the Kolo Mee, and a bit more consistent meat would be great.
Even their teh tarik was perfect! My new go-to spot for Malaysian cuisine, I don’t have to go anywhere else for this hearty harmonious flavoured meal!

They are Able make Vegetarian version of Char Kuala Teo on request and reconfirmed with us definitely NO Pork Lard which was fantastic. Wok hei was present but not very strong.
They had 7 Vegetarian options available on arrival page to themselves on the menu...
Was expecting at least bok choi as representative greens... but only 5 green beans pieces, a small handfull of chives and spring onion green slices and 3 cucumber slices to be noted.

So happy they finally opened a store in the West! Great value, authentic food! We had the hainanese chicken rise, kolo mee and hokkien mee (Singapore style), they were all very flavourful and decent portions. Heaps of free parking too. Will definitely visit again!

Pro: budget meals, simple and tasty. Refillable side chilli condiments and water (collect them yourself).
Con: third time dining here and never get all our meals at the same time. We’re slow eaters and one of us would finish our meal before the other person gets theirs…

So happy they opened a branch in the West that's so close to my place. Menu seems bigger than the other branches too.
Google map position isn't accurate though. It's actually behind the subway and you have to enter the carpark from a different entrance.
Kolo mee was respectable. Generous with pork lard and noodles were chewy and bouncy enough although slightly less than the Glen Waverley branch. Even had green picked chilli which is rare in Melbourne. Sambal was ok. Slightly oily but had enough flavour although a little on sweet side for me.
Will update when I've tried more dishes. Lo Bak is minced rather than fillet though.
Update 241124
Tried the basic nasi lemak for $6.90 and Curry chee cheong fun. Rice was fragrant enough and not wet. Could be saltier. Sambal was right taste with onions but needed more of it since there was quite a bit of rice. Added the sambal they provided at the counter and made it spicier but it changed the taste profile. Ikan bilis and kacang were crunchy. Almost as good as MKS Epping in texture but not quite there in flavour and spice. Never been a fan of boiled eggs with nasi lemak as well.
Chee cheong fun was surprisingly good. Delicate slippery and curry was spicy. Only had fish balls and some kind of fish based taopok though so the other $10 dishes have better value. Still it's a very good specimen if you like the dish
Update 291124
Penang white curry mee was average. Hokkien noodles were starchy and soft in texture. Ingredients were sparse compared to menu photos. Sauce was ok with curry mee flavours. Pork noodles dry had lots of meat. Soup was very tasty and a bit sweet so had lots of msg. Kuay tiow noodles were a little bit too soggy for my liking.
Update 071224
Curry chee cheong fun was not as silky as last time. Larger pieces was a bit hard in the middle. But fish balls were crispier this time. Chicken rice was respectable but not amazing. Rice was very fragrant and tasty. Lots of chicken with lots of garlic oil but some pieces were drier and tougher. With the chilli sauce was a bit better. Saturday 1pm there were lots of people and takeaway orders. Kitchen was a bit hectic and struggling with a slightly slower service. Sounded like there may be new staff.
Update 281224
Tried the duck congee and char kuay teow. Duck was tasty enough and boneless. Came with a very very large bowl of plain congee. Had to eat with chilli and sambal if eating the congee alone only. Char kuay teow was very disappointing. Colour was off, lacked wok hei and was incredibly greasy. Taste was unbalanced with salty mouthfuls of pork lard and bland mushy noodles. At least there two prawns.
Update 090125.
Nasi lemak had lots more sambal than previously so that was a plus. We asked for extra springy noodles in the kolo mee and it didn't disappoint in texture! But a lot less char Siew and pork lard. Seemed a little oilier today as well.
WARNING
The edges of the built in seats against the wall at the feet area are incredibly sharp! We've cut ourselves twice already on those edges. Today the bleeding didn't stop easily so bloodied several tissues. Cut was a lot deeper this time once I came home and washed off the blood.
Update 160125
Braised pork with rice for $12.50 had tasty braised pork, a whole egg and some pickled vegetables. Actually enjoyed the flavours quite a bit. Reminiscent of home style cooking in Malaysia. Minor downside of sorts was there was lots of rice so ratio was a bit off.
Sarawak laksa for $10 with hokkien noodles only and no bean sprouts. Two prawns, shredded chicken, and lots of lots of noodles. Broth was spicy sand tasty but a bit more herbal as well. Shredded chicken was a nice addition but prawn texture was a bit plastic like. As mentioned before, not a fan of three hokkien noodles commonly sold in Australian supermarkets. A little bit too soft and starchy for me.
Btw the service here has always been courteous and prompt. Yes there's a bit of a wait when it gets busy at times but they certainly aren't idling with orders and cooking from what I can see.
