Amazing! We came here for mothers day and the food was divine, very cheap and well worth it. Desserts are sublime! The staff where so friendly and helpful. We where lucky enough to meet the new owners and they where so lovely. The renovations look stunning. We will definitely be back! 😊🏮

This hidden gem manages to keep costs low without compromising on quality, making it a standout choice for Malaysian cuisine enthusiasts. My visit took place on a weekday afternoon, and the café was buzzing with the lively chatter of Malaysian and Singaporean patrons, easily identifiable by their accents. The setting is reminiscent of a traditional kopi tiam, with its clean and welcoming environment, small tables, plastic stools, and paper cups for water, creating a cozy and unpretentious dining experience. Despite the trend of some restaurants cutting down on serving fried noodles due to high labour costs, Jalan Alor proudly offers a wide array of Malaysian favourites. From the aromatic Chow Kuey Teow (CKT) and Hokkien Mee to the flavourful Mee Goreng, nasi lemak, curry, and laksa dishes, the menu is a testament to the rich culinary heritage of Malaysia. The CKT, with its strong Wok Hei and generous sprinkling of dried pork bits, was a delight that could satisfy even the most discerning CKT critic. The Singapore Hokkien Mee, distinct from its KL counterpart which is fried with dark soy sauce, was equally impressive. Although I usually prefer KL Hokkien Mee, I found the Singapore version to be just as delicious. I suggest that a little extra gravy could improve the texture and enhance the flavour further. One of the most appealing aspects of Jalan Alor is its pricing. The dishes are more affordable compared to many competitors, making it well worth the trip to savour the authentic flavors without breaking the bank. It's rare for me to give 5 stars to a restaurant. This was one of the best Cambodian restaurants I have tasted, in my entire life. I know it sounds absurd, but the food was amazing. The service was not bad. The server, even though she tried to talk to us in English, because I think she was non-English, she was still attentive and very friendly to customers. The restaurant, itself, has both Vietnamese and Cambodian kind of feel to it, even though there were Vietnamese paintings and the restaurant is both Cambodian and Vietnamese. We ordered Shaking Beef with Dry Egg Noodles, Cambodian Pork on Rice and and Boat Noodles with Braised Offals. I tried the Cambodian Pork on Rice, with a bit of the Shaking Beef and Noodles. First time trying Cambodian Pork and it was delicious. Pork had a bit of sweet flavour. Definitely highlighting the pork flavour. The rice is good. The braised eggs were braised perfectly. Eggs were cooked, and maintained a nice eggy flavour to it. Nice colour on the egg and pork. Beef is very tender, outside has a nice colour, as well. Noodles were flavourful. Overall, it's a great place to start if you looking for Cambodian food, as well as Vietnamese food.

I’ve been coming here for years. By any definition, what they sell is good old-fashioned comfort food. It’s one of those places you wish will never change. You find comfort in the familiar. The food is always good. The people are always friendly. I’m yet to have a bad meal here ever. I always order the mapo tofu, which is definitely the best in all of Melbourne, maybe all of Australia.

Been trying to find a good fish and chips in the area and finally the kids and I have one we like! Price is so reasonable for the amount you get and everything was done perfect. Having chicken salt was a hit with the kids and it was perfectly seasoned. Will definitely be coming back, thank you
