Order Food in ormond

I walked past this place after my regular medical check up in Camberwell. I was curious about Indonesian foods and decided to give it a try. It is located in a very convenient place with plenty of car park and close to all the shops. Based on my observation it is a family owned business, which is always a great sign. The owner (I think) was friendly and recommended me a few dishes. I went with the babi panggang (a.k.a. roast pork) with rice, and it was delicious! The portion was generous too. I definitely will come back to try their other dishes ordered by other customers, which looked very tempting too.

This has been my favourite Indian restaurant in Melbourne since I first discovered it way back, in 1994! Over the years I brought so many friends, family, colleagues, and they all loved it! The whole experience has been the same all these years - the service, food, atmosphere all have a feel an upscale restaurant. When you add moderate pricing to that, it certainly makes it a must visit place. It is very hard to pick a favourite dish, as all food chef Narender makes is great. Still, i may mention a few. My favourite dish has been, from the beginning, chicken pakora, but I would also highly recommend: - bagare baingan (eggplant dish) - onion chili kulcha (spicy stuffed bread). I also have to mention friendly smiles of the owners Reeta and Narender Behl, which make you feel like you are visiting their home, rather than their business. Highly recommended!

Read about the KL Hokkien Noodle rave review here and thought I give it a try. Perhaps my expectations were too high. It was a little sugary sweet for my liking. The lack of wok hei dampens my anticipation. Salt fish fried rice is pretty good, CKT is average fare and I did not try the BCM because it didn’t look too appetising. Service was quick which is a plus. I reckon the Asian churches nearby brings in the lunch crowd. Overall, it is crowded for a Sunday. Patrons must be enjoying their fares. For me, it’s just ok and I should not have been swayed by the ratings.

Came down here on a Saturday evening for dinner and they were already half packed. The first thing you notice is the place is very rudimentary, floor tiles is slightly greasy sticky and I knew it straight away the food was going to be good and authentic. The service is efficient and on point, got the menu and water as we sat down. Ordered the XLB, Xiao long bao, Chinese sausage fried rice, spring onion pancake and pan fried pork dumplings. The food came out very quickly and it was definitely cooked to order as the buzz from kitchen rang out for each order. Spring onion pancakes were had a crunchy crust, the centre was chewy and packed plenty of savoury flavour, just like how I had it in China. The fried rice was cooked in a wok with nice amount of oil to keep the rice seperate and packed plenty of wok hei (breath of the wok). XLB was small in size but well portioned for a mouth explosion with the hot soup inside as you one biter. This is the real experience of XLB. The fried pork dumpling is definitely made in store during the day over at one of the dining tables and cooked to order. The flavours were spot on and the bottom of the dumpling is crispy. All in all we finished our food and most impressive is their chilli oil on the table is house made, the umami flavours and the mix of heat is perfect, not too spicy and enhances every dish ever so slightly.

The pho was better than I expected! The bean sprouts have a nice texture, broth wasn’t as heavy as other comments have said, which I appreciate. They give sauce, lemon for use. Overall quite nice pho :)
